Capital Accountant, Inc.'s expertise ranges from basic tax management and accounting services to more in-depth services such as audits, financial statements, and financial planning.

Our Team

Kelly Bulgatz, CPA, CMA, CFE - President/Owner

Kelly founded CAI in 2003. Prior to that, she held various positions as the Director of Finance & Controller for companies such as Station Casinos & MGM Mirage. Kelly earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from UNLV with high distinction and achieved her Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant designations in 1993 while working for KPMG Peat Marwick. She holds a Certified Fraud Examiner designation and was founding member of the Las Vegas Chapter of CFE's. Kelly is also a member of the American Institute of CPA's as well as the Nevada Society of CPA's.

Jennifer Gomez - Chief Accountant

Jenn joined CAI in October 2004. Jenn’s areas of concentration include our Real Estate and Construction/Development clients. She has extensive experience with numerous software programs with specialization in payroll systems. Jenn is a long-term resident of Southern Nevada and is active within the community.

Hadia Frelke – Executive Assistant to Kelly Bulgatz

Hadia acts as Office Manager and provides high-level administrative support to Kelly Bulgatz and CAI clients. Hadia handles the financial books for CAI and a few other select companies. She maintains all vendor relationships and provides concierge services as needed by clients. She is currently enrolled at the College of Southern Nevada as an Accounting student. Hadia was born and raised in Maine and loves the sunny weather of Las Vegas! She also makes a great espresso or latte if you come to the office!

Terri Fernandez - Senior Accountant

Terri joined CAI in January 2004. Terri earned a Bachelors degree from San Francisco State University in 2002 and works with our Food & Beverage Clients. She has extensive experience in financial accounting departments that serviced large leasing operations, including retail, culinary and specialty operations.

Loretta Alterman - Senior Accountant

Loretta joined CAI in 2009 and is currently Accounts Payable Supervisor. She is also responsible for all monthly and quarterly returns such as sales and use tax, modified business, gross receipts etc. Since we have clients in multiple states and countries she has to be very knowledgeable with the requirements of each locale. She attended the University of Texas for two years and has an Associate’s degree in Accounting from the College of Southern Nevada. Loretta has over five years of business accounting experience including owning a restaurant and bar in Texas. She is also a big football fan which has even inspired some of her children’s names.

Connie Lum – Staff Accountant

 

Nannette Cortes - Accounts Payable Clerk

Nannette is responsible for accounts payable for most of our clients and works with vendors on a daily basis. She handles all invoices whether received electronically or physically. Check runs are done weekly and she is in communication with the clients to ensure all goes smoothly. Nannette was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where she earned a Bachelors degree in Business Administrative concentration in Accounting from the University of Puerto Rico. She has been living in Las Vegas for 2 years and is very happy to be here.

Hieda Ahadi – Junior Accountant

Hieda joined CAI in 2010 as an Accounting Clerk. Hieda’s office is in the front and she greets all clients and guests. She handles the daily sales audits and ties out the cash and credit card deposits. She receives and processes all incoming mail and ensures that all documents are properly scanned or filed and accounted for. Hieda’s is incredibly positive, even giddy at times and you can always expect to get a ‘yup’ out of her no matter what you ask. She was born and raised in Maine and is currently enrolled at the College of Southern Nevada.

Michelle Merten – Accounting Intern

Michelle joined CAI in 2010 as an Accounting Clerk. She is a virtual employee working out of San Diego. She is responsible for entering all payroll and credit card journal entries and she also does bank reconciliations and daily sales audits. Since many of our clients are out of state or out of the country and we receive most documents electronically, Michelle working from her home office in California fits perfectly. Michelle earned a Bachelor Degree in Communication from San Diego State University in 1991.

 

Sammy Jean –Accounting Intern

Sammy has been working with CAI since 2006. She is an aspiring Accountant and is our Document Scanning and Retention Specialist. Sammy has mastered skills in various accounting software and keys many of our journal entries. Sammy is an accomplished Irish dancer and competes nationally at the championship level.
